Good afternoon fellow Gatherers! Thanks for joining me today. I am excited to have a different kind of conversation with you this afternoon. This week, and in the next few weeks to come, I want . . . more Tom's FeedTom thinks he has the best Mom in the world. Sorry I was confused which week you were away. The 19th is fine, as is the June thing. I need to check which weekends I am going to get there early enough on a Friday night with traffic and all. So 5/19 is a go, and lets pencil in 6/20.

Hey Tom, thanks for the congratulations! So is life after college as scary as I'm told?

A monday night, huh? Tuesday would be better, but you are a busy man. So 19th or 20th are good by me. But remember - you pick the place this time. I wish it would be at the Dbar gig - speedos at a bar sounds awesome.

Tom,
about getting back to learning guitar: the image you commented on is of Matt Heaton, who lives in Boston -- and gives lessons... He plays in a duo with his wife Shannon, really good stuff. I've an interview with Shannon in one of my Voices columns from December if you'd like to learn more. and thanks for the comment.

Hi Tom,
Sorry I missed the latest Gather chat - just wanted to drop in and say I like the G.A.T.H.E.R acronym. I think those are good values for everyone to remember. --L

Thanks for actually answering some of my questions in your announcement about the upcoming chat. Being able to disable feed is a move that I think will help reduce security concerns for some Gather members while letting others use feed more effectively to promote Gather and network both inside and outside Gather to get more members on Gather. Also, members who want to promote their work can do so selectively.
As a professional writer, I like my "fun" chat on Gather to be just that but might want a more serious or informational article ( a book review) to go out on Google and get people to come back here. It is mutually beneficial.

Morning Tom. I was wondering when Gather will address the current problems with this latest upgrade. The feed system is terrible and misses at least half of the articles and photos posted by my conntections. It has been a pain in the butt to have to go through 2-3 forms of site navigation in order to find missing content, when the feed should display it for me. I have posed this question several times and have yet to get an answer. I'd like to know when this issue will be fixed since it is ruining my Gather experience. Marianne

Tom,
thanks for the information about social discovery. as someone who writes about non mainstream sorts of music (folk, Celtic, Americana) for a living, I've seen that process at work directly among friends and also through people who come to trust or at least be interested in my taste because of what they know of my writing. interesting to hear of the business evolution and applications of this. |
